Why The Church Isn’t Whack
”Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.“
Why the Church Isn’t Wack!
This week one of my favorite Gospel Artists, Tye Tribbett, was on local broadcast and repeatedly downed the church. He said most preachers and pastors were not called and that most churches were based on systems that work with or without God.
He emphatically said the church is wack!!!
Wack is a slang which means – Annoyingly bad or disappointingly bad!
These comments are reckless and irresponsible!
I’m not saying the church is perfect!
I could even understand if he said some churches are wack!
But for a recognized leader in the church to make these types of false generalizations is reckless and irresponsible!!
Understand me I do have concerns about some things people in Chuch do and with the conduct and actions of some pastors & preachers!!
But it the individuals that I have a problem with not the Chuch!
See I think we get in trouble as a Church when we try to relate to much to the world
We can stay Relevant without loosing Reverence!!
I believe you should still walk into the church and feel the presence of God. Based on how you are treated, and the worship experience.
–
The Preacher should preach Biblically sound messages to save our souls, heal our hurts and expose our sins!!!
Church is a place of deliverance, conviction, repentance and forgiveness!!!
Where sinners are saved, saints are strengthened and sin is challenged!!
Exalting the Savior, Edifying the Saints & Evangelizing the Sinners!!!
We need the Church!!! and telling people it’s wack pushes them away from what’s designed to bring the HOPE & HELP!!’
I’m not saying churches don’t have problems. That’s impossible because it’s made up of people!!!
Example: Bottle of water!!! (Not all pure) – But we need water to survive!!
We need Church to survive!
HOPE & HELP!!’

How To Live According To The Vision
Sermon: How To Live According To The Vision
”As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.“ Ephesians 4:1-6 NIV
How to Live According to the Vision
Our God Given Vision Provides:
- Direction: – How we do what we do!
- Connection – Who we do what we do with!
- Protection – Helps us stay focused on what we do!
Vision becomes the prescription lenses through which we see everything
Pastor Julian Davis
Today Our Focus is How to Live According to the Vision
Humility
- Humility is a foundational Christian characteristic.
- Humility is to be highly sought but never claimed!
- The world exalts pride not humility!
- Pride is the supreme temptation from satin!
- Pride is the sin of competing with God
- Pride comes in many forms: our abilities, possessions, social status, biblical knowledge, etc
- Always gotta be right, can’t be wrong, putting others down, etc
- Humility begins with a proper self- awareness!!!
- An honest view of the good, bad & ugly parts of you!!!
Gentleness
- Humility always produces gentleness/meekness
- Meekness is not weakness; strength under control
Patience
- Is an outgrowth of Humility & Gentleness
Long suffering
Forbearing Love
- Unconditional love for others
- It’s like throwing a blanket over the sins of others, not to justify or excuse them but to help defuse the sin and stop it from spreading
Unity
- The outcome of humility, gentleness, patience, and forebearance is unity of the Spirit
The Importance of Vision
Sermon: Importance of Vision
“Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.“
Psalms 37:1-6 NKJV
It’s About Doing More in 2024!
Aligning our Vision with our Purpose is all about Focusing our Attention on God’s will for our lives! It’s about getting better and doing better not just appearing better! It’s about preparation and execution Not perpetration and exhibition!
To Align our Vision with our purpose – We must know it’s more that Having Faith in God! We Must Trust God.
Proverbs 3:5 To Align our Vision with our purpose we must focus on staying in Presence of God!
”I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.“ Psalms 34:1-4 NKJV
